Kassie + Stacy’s Fall Wedding at The Lost Resorts in Greer, Arizona

October in Arizona doesn’t always mean desert heat and cactus. For Kassie and Stacy’s October wedding at The Lost Resorts in Greer, Arizona, it meant tall pines, chilly mountain air, a creek in the forest, bonfires, hot cider, a cozy fireplace—and even a slightly uncooperative horse during portraits.

Their friends and family stayed together in the cabins on the property, making the celebration feel more like a full weekend reunion than a single wedding day.

As an Arizona wedding photographer, I love getting to photograph this completely different side of the state.

A Cozy Mountain Wedding in Greer, Arizona

Greer feels worlds away from the desert.

Instead of saguaros and rocky mountains, The Lost Resorts is surrounded by pine trees, water, cabins, and cool mountain air. It gave K + S so much variety throughout the day without their wedding feeling like we were constantly moving from one venue to another.

They got ready in the cabins, explored the forest for portraits, exchanged vows beside the water, spent cocktail hour around the bonfires, and ended the evening inside the warm barn.

For couples dreaming of an Arizona mountain wedding, this is such a beautiful alternative to the traditional desert backdrop.

Getting Ready at The Lost Resorts

Our eight hours of coverage started in the cabins, where both brides were getting ready surrounded by their closest friends and family.

I started with their wedding details, including both dresses, all four rings, and the little pieces that helped bring the day together. Their palette of pinks, whites, greens, and black felt romantic while still fitting the slightly moody, cozy mountain setting.

Having everyone staying nearby also gave the morning such a relaxed feel. Their people weren’t simply arriving for the ceremony—they were already part of the entire weekend.

First Look + Forest Wedding Portraits

After K + S shared their first look, we headed out for portraits while guests began getting settled for the ceremony.

A short drive brought us to a creek surrounded by tall pines, giving us an entirely different look from the rest of the wedding day.

And then there was the horse.

She was short, adorable, and definitely had her own opinions about participating in wedding photos. But the little bit of chaos honestly made the portraits even better.

Between the creek, pine trees, wedding dresses, and horse, this part of their gallery feels completely different from what most people picture when they think of an Arizona wedding.

An Emotional Lakeside Ceremony

Back at The Lost Resorts, everyone gathered beside the water for the ceremony.

The setting was beautiful, but the emotion from their families stood out just as much. There were tears, big reactions, and so many little moments happening around K + S while they exchanged vows.

Those reactions are always some of my favorite photographs from a wedding day because they show just how loved a couple is.

Bonfires, Family Photos + Sunset Portraits

After the ceremony, we finished family photographs while guests moved into cocktail hour and gathered around the bonfires.

With the temperatures dropping quickly, the firepits made the chilly October weather feel like part of the experience rather than something everyone was trying to escape.

K + S also stepped away briefly for sunset portraits before heading back to the party.

One thing I always remind couples is that sunset photos don’t have to mean disappearing for an hour. A short, intentional portrait session can give you completely different light without taking you away from your wedding.

A Warm Barn Reception at The Lost Resorts

As the evening got colder, everyone moved into the barn for the reception.

The huge fireplace immediately changed the mood from chilly mountain evening to warm and cozy. Guests were served hot cider and coffee, which was pretty much perfect after spending the afternoon outside.

The reception setup also had its own personality, including uniquely arranged dinner tables that made the space feel more intentional than a traditional ballroom layout.

From there, the night became about everyone relaxing, celebrating, and enjoying being together.
