7 Reasons you should...

Book a Bridal Portrait Session with your Charleston Wedding Photographer

Have you ever been to a wedding and seen a beautiful framed portrait of the bride in her wedding dress?

Find yourself asking what was the purpose of this other than this one nice photo?

This bride had what we call a bridal session!

The bridal session originated in Europe and is particularly popular in the south, where the bride gets into her full and final wedding attire; hair, makeup, dress, shoes, and accessories! The photos are kept secret until the big day, where traditionally, a large print is displayed at the reception, and then gifted to the mother of the bride.

But there are plenty of other reasons to book bridal sessions as well!
Here are my top 7 Reasons!

1. Dress rehearsal for your big day.

This session is not only wonderful to show off beautiful photos of the bride in her dress, but also think of it as a trial run for the wedding!
I have had a lot of brides change something about their look after the bridal session. Maybe the shoes were not suitable for all day wear, maybe the dress was too big, or her hair didn’t hold as expected, or her eye makeup was too intense.

This is perfect opportunity for the bride to make last min adjustments to her ensemble to ensure that not only does she look perfect, she feels perfect too!

2. Confidence in front of the camera!

Are you nervous in front of the camera??

Similar to engagement portraits, bridal portraits will help build your confidence in yourself and your photographer while you’re in front of the camera. You have enough to worry about on your wedding day, let’s get the jitters out of the way before the big day!

3. Posing practice with your photographer.

This is a perfect opportunity to get to know your photographer and for them to get to know you, not only via personality, but posing as well!

Use this opportunity to give your photographer feedback, which poses you felt comfortable with, which ones you didn’t, how you felt about yourself in the images. This is the best way for your photographer to adjust to what feels best to you!

4. Stress free portrait opportunity without worry of a timeline.

Wedding days can be stressful and full of emotion, bridal portraits will ensure beautiful images with the focus being on you, your looks, your dress etc. without having to worry about the stress of staying on a timeline.

5. Practice for your bride tribe!

If your photographer is anything like me, I will also use this opportunity to show your bridesmaid how to properly lay your dress! This will ensure that someone will always be around to make sure you look your best on the big day!

Plus, this is also a great way to save time on your actual wedding day. While I coach you and your groom through our next pose and location, your bridesmaid can be simultaneously making sure your dress is perfect! Saving us all time!

6. Make the location special to you.

This session is all about you! Let’s make it epically YOU!
Do you have a special location that speaks to you?
The beach, mountains, somewhere you used to spend a lot of time as a child?

Let’s go there!

I had a girl whose dream since she was little, was to be in her wedding dress on her horse, and since her horse wasn’t allowed at the wedding, we made that happen for her bridal session!

7. Extra attention to extra details

Generally, a bride puts on her wedding dress only once. This is a wonderful way to really enjoy some time in your beautiful dress and really show off every aspect of it!

Maybe the shoes will get covered on your wedding day because of the length?
Let’s take some time during the session and show those off!

Do you have an embroidery or special sentimental part of your dress that no else knows about? Lets take some time to photograph that so it goes into your wedding album :)
